Bergen, Alesund. Norway.

More city snaps in Bergen.

Departing Bergen at sunset and sailing North towards Alesund.

Captain Dag did a diversion into the end of a minor fjord to show us where he grew up as a child. His house was still there. All the locals must have known he was coming as they all came out in their boats to meet us.

Whoops I downloaded the wrong photo here. no leisure boats in this one.

The best boat was this one that had a stuffed polar bear mounted on the deck.

The town of Alesund was very picturesque which is pretty much the same all over Norway. It truly is a most beautiful and spectacular country.

The town is well known for its Art Nouveau architecture. Alesund was destroyed by fire in 1904 and after that it was rebuilt to be what it is today.

Mount Aksla where we climbed the 400 plus steps up to the viewpoint for spectacular views.

The view from the lookout at the top of Mt Aksla.

Lunch at the cafe at the top. We sat there for ages just enjoying the view.

 Halfway up or halfway down!!!

This huge Monkey Puzzle tree had had branches removed in its earlier days and the trunk was left with what looked like 'elephant eyes'. Very intriguing.

The winding step pathway up to Mt Aksla.

Then its goodbye to Alesund. A very enjoyable visit.
